Ever wonder how some sites always seem to hit the SEO jackpot?

Today, I'm peeling back the curtain on my personal strategy for uncovering those elusive, high-quality SEO keywords using Ahrefs.

This tool isn't just a part of my toolkit—it's my secret weapon for staying ahead in the SEO game.

Let's dive into how you can use Ahrefs to not just compete, but dominate in your niche.

How I find 100s of high quality SEO keywords using Ahrefs "Suggestion" tools:

Here’s my exact process that I follow for my own companies and our clients at TrioSEO.

1. Choose 5-10 content hubs to research for your business.

2. Search 1 hub to start on Ahrefs Keywords Explorer.

3. Make sure Hub has some Volume (250+). This makes sure you’ll have enough to get started with. If less than 250+ monthly Volume, go broader.

4. Click on "Matching terms" on left menu. This shows you other keywords that relate directly to the main hub keyword you searched for.

5. Scroll results & save low KD, good Volume. Aim for keywords that are most relevant to the Hub you originally searched for. Think about the intent and only save ones that are best for your business. Avoid duplicates as well.

• Hint: Make a keyword research Google doc to save the data.

• Or make a new List in Ahrefs.

6. Repeat with the "Related terms" filter on left menu. This will broaden the scope of keywords that Ahrefs suggests to you. Again, you’ll go through the keyword options and save the best ones.

7. Repeat with the "Search suggestions" feature in Ahrefs. Finally, it gives you the most broad keywords related to that original hub keyword you searched. Aim to keep the keywords still directly related to your business.

8. Rinse & repeat -- enter your next Hub. Repeat steps 3 through 7.

9. Go until you hit 100+ high opportunity keywords. Save them all in your Google Sheet or in Ahrefs List feature. You’ll be using these to build a content strategy next.

I LOVE these 3 features in Ahrefs.

They make my keyword research faster & simpler.

I can find 100s of KW ideas in under 1 hour, and I can go down keyword rabbit holes for hours.
