Hey hey, Savvy Nation! 😎
Have you ever run a marketing campaign that got you ZERO customers?
Sad, right? But it’s not just you. It happens to lots of people, and the culprit is almost always the same:
👉🏻Focusing on only one level of the marketing funnel.
Today, I’m breaking down why this doesn’t work and how to get results.
Ready? First off, there are…
💡Targeting only one channel doesn’t work because your customers go through a journey made up of different stages.
To succeed, you need to target each of these stages, effectively spurring your audience to complete the journey by deciding in your favor.
Top of the Funnel (TOFU): Awareness and Attraction
What happens here: This is where you say “Hello!” to your target audience. Their journey through the marketing funnel has just begun.
They probably don’t know you exist yet, and they’re not sure what problem they need solved either.
What you should do: Your job at this stage is to attract the right people and educate them about their needs and possible solutions.
Practical application:
Dominate search with blogs that answer “how” and “why”.
Create a personal brand on social media that provides value for your audience.
Middle of the Funnel (MOFU): Engagement and Qualification
What happens here: Thanks to your educational, engaging content, you have now generated leads. And they’re seriously considering you as a solution.
What you should do: Your main goal is to turn leads into believers by building trust and demonstrating your value.
Practical application:
Conduct hyper-personalized audits.
Nurture leads with actionable “how-to” guides.
✋🏻Careful not to make a pitch here yet–they’re not quite ready for that!
Bottom of the Funnel: Conversion and Retention
What happens here: Your leads are ready to make a decision. It’s go time!
💡You’re poised for the highest possible conversion at this stage. Make it count with great SEO.
My team at TrioSEO drives BOFU traffic with our unique high-intent SEO formula.
What you should do: Make sure they don’t bounce. Leveraging their confidence in your brand, convert your warmest leads into customers by:
Offering a clear, simple, and enticing offer
Creating a sense of urgency
Eliminating friction–make converting the easiest, most logical choice
Practical application:
Seal deals with proposals tied to ROI, not features.
Turn clients into fans with case studies that sell for you.
How Should This Affect Your Marketing?
Every stage of the marketing funnel requires a unique strategy. This means there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach that works.
You need to target all three stages to turn traffic into leads, leads into customers, and customers into advocates.
But there’s one thing you do need throughout the marketing funnel: SEO.
Attracts and educates at TOFU
Nurtures leads at MOFU
Converts at BOFU
