Hey ,
There’s an ongoing debate over which is the #1 digital marketing channel for gaining leads and customers. I hear it all the time…
Is it SEO, PPC, or email?
This week, I’m sharing my take on this topic to help you decide which works best for growing your business.
Let’s begin with a high-level breakdown of each:
1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Pros:
Cost-effective: Continues to attract organic traffic long-term
Drives organic traffic: Resulting in higher quality leads
Higher conversions: Targeting quality traffic equals higher conversions
Cons:
Dependent on Google: Google’s changing algorithms impact results and strategies. This can be tough if you’re not on top of it.
Long-term investment: Results are sustained, but they take a while to take shape. You’ve got to be patient.
Like I said above, this is all I do for my 30+ clients at TrioSEO.com. Come check us out if you’re looking for better SEO results.
Okay, not let’s talk about PPC…
2. Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
Pros:
High potential for optimization: Leading to higher conversions
Effectively targets ICP: Grants full control over ad placement and audience targeting
Cons:
Costs per click: Each ad click costs money
Paid traffic from search: Traffic is generated through paid ads in search results
Stops when you stop paying: Results end when the campaign is over
I’ve personally become more of a fan of PPC and ads over the past year.
It’s something my business partner, Nate, and I never figure out, but we wanted to.
So, we finally started hiring different Ad Experts and finally found a solution.
Now it brings us leads every day.

Last, but not least…email…
3. Email Marketing
Pros:
Low cost, high ROI: Owned media takes much less to set up and sustain
Personalization and segmentation: You have full control over content, segmentation, and delivery
Fast results: Leads can quickly turn into revenue, depending on email frequency
Cons:
Deliverability issues: Emails can be marked as spam
May result in email fatigue: Finding the sweet spot in email frequency can be tricky
So, Which is the Best?
PPC will give you a head start with fast results, but it’ll cost you for every lead.
Email is sustainable with continued effort, and can be a great revenue driver at scale.
SEO can drive traffic and convert leads into revenue, but you need a long term mindset.
In my eyes, SEO is still best. It has the highest chance of ROI over the long term and it continues to “pay” you the further you grow with your business.
But that doesn’t mean it’s best for everyone reading this email.
Maybe you have a larger marketing budget and can afford to pay for ads because you need sales quickly.
At the end of the day, it comes down to your budget and business goals.
Ideally, you have budget to run all three over time as it will produce the best results.
How Does This Impact Your Marketing?
SEO, PPC, and email are your marketing powerhouse.
You need to leverage each of their strengths, allowing them to complement each other, for marketing that’s truly impactful for your business.
But remember: SEO is a long process. The earlier you start, the sooner you’ll reap its benefits. So start building an SEO strategy right now.
I hope this was helpful!
All my best,
Connor
