Want to do your company’s SEO but don’t know where to start?
I got you.
Hey, friends! It’s Connor 👋🏻
SEO is a lot to figure out.
But that doesn’t mean beginners can’t do it.
So if you’re feeling intimidated to even try, I have just what you need:
Plug and Play My SEO Roadmap
Use my process to get expert results every time.

1. Know Your Audience: Ideal Customer Profile
Understanding your target audience is the foundation for effective SEO.
Here’s what to do at this stage:
Pinpoint 1 primary persona: Define your main buyer type by establishing how they think and behave, their goals, and their role or job title.
Use their top 3 pain points: List problems they’re actively trying to solve.
Map buying triggers and objections: Identify what nudges them toward a decision and what holds them back.
2. Match Your ICP’s Search Intent: Keyword Research
Once you’ve established the who, it’s time to define what they search for.
What search queries are they typing on Google, and what is the intent behind those?
The key to finding out is keyword research.
Use tools like Ahrefs or Semrush to:
Identify 5-10 high-intent seed terms: Begin with conversion-oriented keywords relevant to your business.
Cluster keywords by search volume + difficulty: Group related keywords according to the level of difficulty to rank and the number of people searching them.
Spot question-style long-tail opportunities: Long-tail keywords are lower competition but target users farther down in the buyer journey, meaning they’re ready to convert.
3. Set the Stage: Technical SEO
At this stage, make sure your website architecture can support your content and help it rank.
💡 Remember: Your content can go only as far as your technical SEO can take it.
So build it well:
Audit site speed and core web vitals: Check metrics like Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) to find out how fast your website loads–the faster the better.
Fix crawl errors, broken links, and redirects: Use Google Search Console to resolve errors that hinder search engines from correctly analyzing your site and result in a negative user experience.
Ensure mobile-first design: Google indexes mobile-first, so your website should be mobile-ready
Secure HTTPS: Site security is a major ranking signal and builds user trust.
4. Get Ready to Rank: Content Creation
Structured, optimized content beats scattered attempts all the time.
Craft clusters around pillar pages: Use a hub-and-spoke strategy where you build related content around your central (pillar) topics.
Write with a clear H1-H4 hierarchy: This enhances readability and ensures search engines understand your content structure.
Optimize meta tags and add schema: Make sure your meta titles and descriptions are SEO-friendly and optimized with relevant keywords.

5. Build Trust: Link Building
Backlinks function like a vote of confidence, telling both Google and your audience you’re a credible resource.
They are also a top ranking factor, which dictates which pages show up #1 on SERPs.
Make sure your content has s fighting chance:
Secure 3-5 high-authority mentions monthly: Focus on domains with a high Domain Rating.
Leverage guest posts, partnerships, and PR: Get active in your community by writing guest posts, collaborating with industry experts and content creators, and networking with journalists.
Monitor anchor-text mix for natural growth: Keep a healthy mix of generic, partial match, exact match, and branded anchor texts to prevent getting flagged as spammy or using manipulative link-building tactics.
6. Track and Measure: Analytics
Now, it’s time to track your SEO’s performance.
Analytics is crucial for identifying what’s working and fixing what’s not.
Here’s what to do:
Track rankings, organic traffic, and conversions: These are your big threes. Use tools like Semrush to monitor position changes, click-through rates, and conversions.
Set up Google Analytics + Search Console alerts: Get notified as soon as issues like 404s, traffic drops, and crawl errors arise.
Run monthly growth vs. goal reports: Compare metrics month-to-month and use the data to improve your strategy
7. Keep Your Strategy Fresh: Repeat and Upgrade
SEO is never static.
Google’s algorithms change. SEO best practices evolve.
Your strategy has to adapt to stay effective.
Refresh under-performing pages quarterly: Add new data and re-optimize old content.
Expand keyword clusters based on data: Check what’s currently ranking and add more keyword clusters or topics around those.
Run A/B tests, check CTAs and internal links: Try different CTAs, experiment with new linking patterns, and test versions of meta titles and descriptions.
